400 Children marched for Peace in Bandra!

Cadenza Kantori, one of the key choirs of Mumbai, organized a peace walk from 2 locations in Bandra - St Anne’s Church, and St Peter’s Church. The Peace Walk today acted as the opening for the 11th Annual Festival of Religious and Sacred Music that is organised by Cadenza Kantori. The theme of the festival ‘Broken for All’, from the context of peace, aims at representing disputed territories under conflict. The effects of war on people in such places leads to broken homes, broken spirits, uprooted lives, and they are all victims through no fault of theirs.

In an effort to bring awareness to the injustice in the world today, close to 400 children and youth, between the ages of 8 and 25 gathered on the streets of Bandra to ‘Walk for Peace’ while singing originally composed songs of Peace. Many carried hand-made placards promoting peace while some simply wore white with a green armband as a gesture of peace. The ‘Peace Walk’ which started at the two locations finally congregated at Mt. Mary’s Basilica, where a Peace Ceremony was held. During the ceremony, the participating choirs jointly took an oath for peace and a group of dancers from the participants performed an interpretation of the story of the good Samaritan. This walk set the stage for the Gala concert that was held on Sunday, the 14th of December at 7:30 pm St. Peter’s Church where 13 choirs from Mumbai and Pune performed sacred choral music as well as a medley of popular Christmas carols accompanied by a fully fledged string orchestra.
