It's been a scorcher of a summer. Only thing is, now we’re going to have to deal with falling trees, choked drains and flooded streets… small price to pay for experiencing the splendour of the eagerly anticipated barsaat.

Even though things have cooled down at this end of our nation, things are still raging hot in the capital. The temperatures have hovered around 44 degrees for the last couple of weeks, with no respite in sight, and to top that are the intense political battles being waged for Raisena Hill. The race to Rashtrapati Bhavan has been a long and tough one – contestants are confused and many don’t know if they’re coming or going. Pranab Da is in number one position at the time of our going to press, Abdul Kalam has decided to call it a day & has quit the race mid-way and Mr Tribal Sangma is puffing and panting all the way up, desperate to catch up with Pranab Da… whether he makes it or not will be known soon enough. Apparently, rumour has it that ageless Mr Ram Jethmalani is planning to throw his hat in the ring too. It’s been quite entertaining so far… either ways, may the best man win.

Other than that, another hot topic of conversation has been the warfare going on, off the tennis courts. The Tennis Federation decided Lee-Hesh were the best doubles team for India to send to the London Olympics but Hesh has refused to partner with Lee. They then said Lee-Bopanna would go instead and then Bopanna refused to partner with Lee. Hmmm… wonder how Leander has managed to rub both the wrong way? The sports minister has now intervened and for the first time (since he took office) he finally suggested something intelligent – he suggested two teams be sent to the Olympics instead of one. If that happens Mahesh & Bopanna will pair up and Lee will be sent with somebody else. Hope there’s somebody good still around that Leander has offended.

One cool thought before I sign off… Aamir Khan’s latest venture Satyamev Jayate has opened the doors of parliament for the super (TV) star – He’s been invited to attend and discuss ideas during a discussion on medicine. Great going Aamir & keep it up.

And, on that note, it’s time to say goodbye… See you same time, same place, next month… until then, Happy Reading!
