TV stars come together for a beti charity cricket!
Some of the best known faces on Indian TV congregated at Khar Gymkhana ground for a charity cricket match to raise funds for Anu Ranjan’s NGO BETI, on the 5th December 2013,which supports women suffering from acid attack and other atrocities. ‘POWERPLAY - Sports for Cause, a 15 Over Celebrity Exhibition Match’, was organized by Viceversa Events. MLA Baba Siddique was the guest of honour for the evening and was seen encouraging the players.
Anu Ranjan, founder of BETI informed “It is quite alarming how incidents of crime against women are increasing by the day in our city. As influential members of the society we have to come together to fight this menace and encourage like minded individuals to join the cause. BETI has already taken up the cause of two acid attack victims viz. Sonali Mukherjee and Lalita Ben Bansi. Sonali has undergone over 6 surgeries at a hospital in Delhi and is on her way to recovery, while Lalita is being treated in Mumbai by expert doctors.”

3rd rock Entertainment won the toss and elected to bat first. They put up a total of 113 before they were bowled out. Varun Badola picked up 3 wickets. Boxy Boyz, who were chasing the target lost wickets at regular intervals and were in a spot of bother, before Varun Badola got them out of trouble with a whirlwind knock of 31 runs in 17 balls. Varun was declared the man of the match for his all round performance. Bhojpuri star Manoj Tiwari was quite an attraction as the crowds kept mulling around him asking for autographs and pics. He also contributed in the field through his bowling and took a spectacular catch in the outfield.
All in all it was an evening well spent with TV celebrities, who came together for the cause of BETI, Anu Ranjan's initiative on the girl child.
