Fabulous February is here!

It’s Fabulous February. Not that we have much of a winter in Mumbai, which I totally love about this city, but I sure am relieved to see signs of the severe cold weather gradually disappearing from the rest of the northern hemisphere. Warmth is gently setting in. Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, lots of excitement is in the air and airwaves and everyone seems to be starting to relax.

The 4th GR8! Women Awards Middle East is being held in Dubai this month. Excitement at its peak.
Desi television producers and programming though, on the other hand, seem to be rushing and gushing past all of us in such a tearing hurry that we’re having a tad bit of trouble keeping up. The season of leaps, as in skipping time forward by decades, has returned with a bang… Balika Vadhu, Madhubala, Saath Nibhana Saathiya, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain all recently took some massive jumps forward. Good luck to presenters and viewers alike.

Other than that, reality shows are still ruling the roost. Nach Baliye, India’s Got Talent, Boogie Woogie, Dance India Dance are all rocking – as I’m sure will be the soon-to-commence Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega. While we’re on the subject of reality shows, we can’t overlook our dear News Channels and News Anchors who’ve been covering the antics and drama of the new kids on the political block with a vengeance and that of some old political stalwarts too.  At the risk of repeating myself, time and again, I must confess I find the circus of Indian politics most amusing. Every time we feel we’ve just found ourselves a new ringleader all we actually end up with is another bunch of clowns. God bless us!

Taking of clowns, an ex comic from Comedy Nights with Kapil has signed up for a soon-to-be-released show on Star Plus. Sunil Grover, better known as Ms Guthi, is whom I’m referring to. Good luck to him and the channel. Wish them all the best.

Good wishes also go to many old-timers making a comeback. Riva Bubber, Sadiya Siddiqui, Ashish Sharma, Poonam Dhillon et al. Welcome back to the screen. Also, do watch for another newbie… a show featuring celebrities, all of whom will be stepping into the shoes of an Aam Aadmi for a day – to understand their plight and to help them fulfill their dreams on Mission Sapne…coming soon on COLORS!

On that happy note, ciao for now. Wish you a lovely month, filled with love and happiness. Until next time, don’t skip a single page and happy reading!!
