“Thank you everybody that was a part of The 14th ITA Awards and thank you to the dedicated TV audiences for your vote of support.”

2014, another year that has just soared by us, before we even realized it. The Indian Television Academy (ITA) Awards completed 14 glorious years. A wonderful celebration attended by one and all in the TV industry commemorated the event. The telecast of the award ceremony received much commendation too. Thank you everybody that was a part of the event and thank you to the dedicated TV audiences for your vote of support. Much appreciation & gratitude!

It’s been an interesting year that’s passed with many new channels and several new programs being launched this year. Another KBC, another Bigg Boss has almost gone by and another season of Khatron Ke Khiladi is just about to start. Many new reality-shows hit the airwaves this past year, numerous new song & dance performance contests came & went and there’s was lots new on the fiction front too. Masterchef India has gone vegetarian, for all the wrong reasons and goons like some so-called “Godman” in Hissar, Haryana still dominate prime-time air time for 10 days at a stretch. All in all, the more that things changed over the last year, the more they stayed the same.

Hopefully 2015 does actually usher in some fresh, innovative thought and programming into what we’re watching daily. Hope the fiction stories and characters in these Hindi entertainment programs become more convincing. Hope watching contestants like Kim Kardashian (who’s supposed to be making an appearance on apna Bigg Boss n maybe not) makes us realize how pointless most reality-shows are. Hope Arnab Goswami is able to calm it down a notch or two and hope he has more control over his shrieking guests on the “Noise Hour”. Hope the other wannabe Arnab Goswami’s anchors, from the other news channels, realize that he isn’t exactly what they wanna be. Hope politics actually gets cleaner and hope the TV media is able to retain its objectivity and remain impartial and dispassionate while reporting on political parties, persons and programs.

Hope greed and corruption goes away forever; hope Ebola stays away from our shores, hope petty wars with neighbors and others wane; hope the Swachh Bharat Mission is accomplished and becomes a reality across the nation; hope toilets before temples or anything else for that matter becomes a reality too; hope all Indians have a roof over their heads and food on their tables and no child goes hungry; hope peace and happiness prevail all over,

On that joyful note, it’s farewell to you for now and to 2014 forever. Wishing you and all your loved ones a wonderful holiday season, a merry Christmas and a very happy new year! Until next year, happy reading!
