Mohit Malik’s Dedication!

Mohit Malik’s Dedication!
Mohit Malik’s Dedication!

Playing with fire can get dangerous at times and while most of us are cautious, a few of us end up landing ourselves in serious trouble. Mohit Malik burnt his fingers, literally and figuratively, recently when he performed at Zee Rishtey Awards 2014. Dancing and performing daredevil stunts, he was required to emerge out of a prop that was set ablaze  for the act. The team of pyrotechnicians typically use magic paper which burns quickly leaving no ashes behind for stunts of this kind. Going slightly wrong with his judgement about the time it would take for the paper to burn completely, Mohit jumped into fire even before the paper could burn itself out. Burning his arms even before the act could begin, he was left in a fix as to whether he’d be able to pull of the act.

Not losing his spirit, Mohit continued to dance without as much as flinching and finished the entire act with élan. From remembering his steps to smiling all through and in fact climbing a Rostrum and dancing on the pole till the end, he gave a stellar performance without losing his breath. Mohit shares, “It is not every day that we have to deal with fire and do stunts of this kind. So, even with umpteen rehearsals and dry runs, I rushed into it a little too soon. I had applied some oil on my body before the act that affected me badly. But I knew I couldn’t stop for the act was going on live in front of the audiences and I couldn’t possibly let them down. So, I took it upon myself to bear the pain and finish my act. It was only once I finished the act that I stopped and told the crew backstage of what had happened. They did have some first aid and an ambulance on the ground however, since I had burnt myself badly, they rushed me to the hospital immediately.”
