'GR8! Welfare Cup' to support 'BETI' a movement...

The Indian Television Academy (ITA) is organized a charity cricket match called the 'GR8! Welfare Cup' to support 'BETI' a movement started by them to create awareness against the killing of the female foetus.. with the participation of the entire television industry on Sunday 4th June, 2006 at Andheri Sports Complex.

Informs Shashi Ranjan - Convenor of The ITA, 'The proceeds of this match will be used for our campaign against female foeticide ‘Beti’ and also for the welfare of members of the television industry. The Hon. Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri Vilasraoji Deshmukh has kindly consented to be the Chief Guest for the evening. The match is supported by the Government of Mahararshtra (Women & Child Development Department) which will help promote our cause against female foeticide.'

Says Anu Ranjan - President The ITA, 'The match will have all prominent television stars, actors, anchors participating and showing solidarity for the cause. The ACTORS XI will be captained by Varun Badola and the ANCHORS XI will be captained by Salil Ankola. Using the reach of these popular television stars we plan to spread awareness on the rampant cases of female foeticide that is causing a gender imbalance in our society.'
