The ITA’s Ramp – A Rouser for ‘beti’

The Indian Television Academy took another step for its movement, ‘beti’ which is a clarion call against Female Foeticide, rampant all across the county, today. It is, indeed, a curse that is playing havoc with the Gender-balance as created by Mother Nature!

The ‘beti’ movement is a mission of Anu Ranjan (President, The ITA & Editor, GR8! TV Mag) and Shashi Ranjan (Convenor, The ITA & Publisher, GR8!). This has been appended to their GR8! Women Awards, too and is a constant endeavour to create awareness against the scourge of Female Foeticide.

It is in this vein that this Ramp-walk was organised on Saturday, the 1st May, 2010 at the Star Sahara Hotel in suburban Mumbai.

The occasion attracted a host of celebrities, who walked the ramp that day in support of ‘beti’!
The biggest highlight of the evening was the moment when some celebrity fathers walked with their daughters, reflecting the crux of the occasion – ‘beti’!

A visibly touched Anu Ranjan said, ‘It’s really overwhelming to see such support & goodwill for ‘beti’ from persons of such eminence. There presence would really make people sit up and take notice of this curse of Female Foeticide, facing our country! And I promise you, we will be relentless in our pursuit to create awareness about it with whatever means we can!’

Indeed, it was an evening to cherish!
