Bling & 'beti'…

Together they made the evening blast!

The setting was the upper-crust Grand Hyatt in suburban Mumbai, the occasion – a unique Ramp-walk, juggled by the Diamond giant, ‘Gitanjali’ in cahoots with those behind the 'beti' movement! It was

unique because it was razzle-dazzle with a purpose. And that was brought to the event by ‘beti’, which is a relentless fight against the scourge of Female Foeticide, rampant across the country!

The ‘beti’ movement has been trying to spread awareness amongst those who let themselves fall a willing prey to the temptation and fixation about a son, killing the female foetus, in turn. To achieve this

mission, the best way is via Celebrityspeak as when a celebrity says something, everybody sits up and takes notice!

Hence, ‘beti’ has been organising lots of celeb-events, in which Stars of all hues and substance avow their support to the movement and virulently denounce the heinous practice. Reports have shown that the efforts of ‘beti’ have really made a difference!

The clarion call of ‘beti’ found its echo this time at an occasion that is the last word in splendour as created by the IIJS. The IIJS (India International Jewllery Show) in the �ber outfit in the country that regularly organises big-ticket events to display high-end jewellery through the participation of the top-notch celebrities from the glam town.

This year, in the 28th edition of their endeavour, the gala got a kick-start with the ‘Gitanjali–‘beti’ ramp-walk that had an entirely now concept as far as the IIJS galas go.

And that was a walk accentuating the importance of the girl-child. So it was decided to have the celebrities swagger on the ramp along with their daughters!

This concept could be concretised into reality only by the support and cooperation of the man with a vision, Mehul Chowksi (CMD, Gitanjali Gems & Jewellers) to this indefatigable mission by the irrepressible Anu Ranjan (Founder of the ‘beti’ movement).

Together they created a sublime moment in that splendorous event!
