Minissha Lamba..says Television Empowers..

Minissha Lamba
Minissha Lamba

Minissha Lamba’s fondness for TV is apparent and the petite and pretty actress talks to GR8! About what makes TV tick…

What was your first impression of being on television?

Empowering. TV helps you in reaching across to so many people… even the response has been tremendous.

Do you think TV actors can do well in films and vice-versa?

I can’t say… When something works, it just works. What works for one, may not work for another. So it cannot be generalized, there is no hard and fast rule.

Would you consider doing more on television in the future?

Sure, television is a very powerful medium. Unlike in a film, where you portray a character; on TV your personality shines through. Shows are made to cater to you and bring out your persona.

Are you much of a TV buff?

I used to be a TV buff, now I hardly watch any television.

What do you usually watch on television?

I usually watch English shows.

Your favourite show…

The X-Files, The Practise, Prison Break, Desperate Housewives, et al.

Your favourite show as a kid…

The Wonder Years, Doogie Howser, M.D., Beverly Hills 90210.

Have you ever watched a saas-bahu soap?

I have… I used to watch Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and I think soaps are very addictive. It’s very tough to function without your daily fix, so much so that weekends were sad. One would even make sure to be home so as not to miss the show.

Favourite man on TV…

Rohit Roy.

Favourite woman on TV…

Prachi Desai.

One thing you would want to change on TV…

I don’t think there is any change required on Indian television because the change is already happening. We have soaps, reality shows, other shows, and the variety is growing still. Even the production values now are better than ever.

In one line, Indian television is…

Booming!
