The grand 15th Annual Indian Television Academy (ITA) Awards took place in Mumbai in early September this year;details of the magnificent, star-studded event, the glorious performances and the electric atmosphere can be found in the pages that follow. In addition, to catch it on air please save the date of October 18, 2015 and tune in to Colors & a simul telecast on DD National, 6 pm onwards.

Well, guess what’s been ruling the airwaves the past more than a month? Actually, no prizes for guessing that one! Yes, it was the sordid saga surrounding what one considered the almostfirst family of television in India… Yes, I’m talking about the zillion plus debates, discussions, arguments, investigations and analysis on, of and about the Indrani Mukherjea or the Sheena Bora murder case. My goodness, parliament hasn’t debated this much on all topics combined in the past decade I’m sure! Further, the best part is that, as far as solving the case is concerned, we’re still where exactly where we started. The victim is still “presumed” (no DNA test has confirmed with100% certainty that those particular remains are Sheena’s), the murderers are still “alleged” and the motives are still “assumed”. Family, friends and acquaintances and experts from the fields of law, finance, crime & high society debated in every TV studio and drawing room possible till the cows came home but we’re still where we started, just going around in circles. Love, sex, murder, intrigue, huge financial wrongdoings, high society involvement… this was more gratifying to watch than any soap opera, desi or pardesi! I know I’m making light of it but that’s only because by the end of it all, the whole episode became quite a joke. On a somber note, I do hope they are able to wrap up matters conclusively, swiftly and I hope all the perpetrators of this terribly heinous crime are made to pay for it.

Other than that, it has been an eventful month for all of us here at GR8! too. Our first feature film production “Wedding Pullav” is scheduled for release, in a theater very near you, on October 16th 2015… Enlivening and inspirational performances that emphasize the exhilaration of destination weddings, featuring fresh, talented newcomers in the lead roles – the film promises to be the ultimate family entertainer.

Given all this, the mood has been ecstatic and we’ve been busy buzzing around like bees tying up all loose ends! Of course, one and all are invited to attend this shaadi-of-the-year and we look forward to seeing you there! On that wonderfully warm note, it’s goodbye for now. I’m off to devour my “Wedding Pullav”, hope you are too!?!! Until next time, Happy reading!
