Uncensored with Digangana Suryavanshi

Digangana Survayanshi who is popularly known for her stint in Star Plus’ Ek Veer Ki Ardaas…Veera.

Much is written about her work, her likes, aversions and Bigg Boss performance. However, there is much to know about this young ladyand her riveting journey in this industry. Articulating the minutiae of her expedition in tinsel town, Digangana says, “The best part is I have a strong support system. My grandma, mom, papa and all other relatives were always supportive. And yes, I am grateful for values they have imbibed in me. That keeps me grounded and humble.”

On her Acting

This buoyant actress says acting was part of her life since she was 3 years old. “I remember I saw my mom crying while watching TV. I was only 3 years old and I was wondering why she was crying. My mom told me she loved the acting in that show. Damn, I did not even know what acting was all about. Mom explained that when you are happy and still you cry and vice versa is acting. After few seconds I also started crying. My mom got tensed. She probed why I was shedding tears. I smiled and said I was acting.  So that is how it all started.”

But then, you are so young. What about the timidities, rumours, expectations and pressures celebs are bombarded with? In all smiles, she adds, “Anyways, people will talk what they want to. Kuch Toh Log Kahenge you see. Lol. It happens when they know half-truth, want to spread fire or maybe want to encash on someone else’s popularity. I don’t succumb to such talks. Having said that, it definitely upsets me. Situations are diverse and so are people. What’s there to create a fuss about?”

Also you have been refusing few shows and one was popular show Sasural Simar Ka. “From show to production house, everything was perfect. I just want to stay away from daily soaps for some time. I am committed to some other assignment and daily shows demand 14 hours daily.”

On her accolades

Digangana grabbed media’s attention when she won an award for never using glycerine. Talking about the secret mantra, she replies, “I live in that moment. I never used glycerine and nor I am going to use it in my career. We are like exchanging puns and jokes and after 10-15 seconds I am there weeping without glycerine. I don’t recall any moments because that impacts your facial expressions too. So yes, I can play between the switch on and switch off mode very easily.”

On her book

Her first book was much appreciated and she is already caught up working on a sequel to Nixie the Mermaid andPower of Love. “As you know, the book revolves around the love story between a Mermaid and Human which itself is very unique. So, second version is about their rebirth. Now whether they come back in same form or other, whether they remember their previous birth, etc. is what you will have to wait for. It should be out in couple of months.”

Talking about the inspiration, “The book is definitely a love story but it also captures the battle between heart and mind brilliantly. I take cues from daily life so readers can also relate to it.”

Pointing out that Miley Cyrusand Justin Bieber as her favourites, she responds, “As a kid, I used to see lot of American sit-coms like Small Wonder and Hannah Montana. Then I started listening to English music and rehearsing to get that tone right.
