Now time for mouse / ants on Indian Telly?

After a makhi character (Sasural Simar Ka) on TV, now comes the turn of mouse and / or ants. According to sources, Colors show Thapki Pyaar Ki, which of late has not really rocked the TRP charts, wants to resort to the tried and tested supernatural formula to lift its sagging ratings. The creative team is toying with the concept of either a mouse or ants.
Especially with Ganpati round the corner, a mouse, which is seen as the vahan (vehicle) of the Elephant God, might as well be in contention. No final decision has yet been reached over which supernatural animal track will be introduced. There is  also buzz that in an effort to really shock the audiences you might have snakes and ants as well and not just one animal.
Just goes to show how tracks change in a serial. Thapki began as a love story of a girl who stammers and how she finds her way in the media space. Sasural Simar introduced the supernatural saga of family soaps by bringing in ghosts and later makhi. The recent super success of Nagin has only bolstered the supernatural / fantasy genre, though there is a lot of talk of  how regressive and out of sync desi TV has become. Whenever attempts have been made to change the grammar, most have come to naught. Star and Colors both have had to eat humble pie, when they brought in Sumeet Sambhal Lega (Indian adaption of  Everybody Loves Raymond) and 24 respectively .
