Rubina Dilaik - I had to unlearn everything to play a eunuch on screen

Rubina Dilaik  is among the few thinking actors in the TV industry.  It was a pleasure talking to her on the sidelines of  The ITA Awards where she won the Best  Actress Drama Award Jury for Colors show Shakti — Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki  . She began her TV career with Choti Bahu and it sequel. Her other notable shows include Punar Vivah - Ek Nayi Umeed and Jeannie Aur Juju

How does it feel on winning the ITA award? The importance  of award recognition of effort. Your thoughts

Winning any award is a motivation! It gives an impetus to get even more better, it is the recognition to your efforts and hard work. An ITA is a dream for all TV  actors, I am ecstatic that mine came true !

What according to you makes Shakti click?

The uniqueness of the concept! We have took the risk of challenging the stereotype  with a conviction, it was worth it.

What was the biggest  learning curve  in your career?

My biggest learning was, dig beneath your feet, there you will find a spring. The place where you are now is crucial. Never try to avoid that you must do ....

What are the high points and low points  of your career?

There have been many highs and lows, well I believe that's how we learn the wisdom of life !

What were the  challenges you faced to play a eunuch?

There were a lot of challenges, and the biggest of them was to unlearn everything that I had learnt so far! To react to a situation as of knowing nothing is difficult and to act innocent is not that easy (ha ha ha). Then the challenge of playing a eunuch, which I took upon as a mission to prove my mettle as an actor .

Did your family support you?

My family has always been standing rock solid by my side, I owe a debt of gratitude to them ! It's purely their  faith in me that I have been able to achieve all this in my life !
