Gurmeet's film career at the crossroads?

Gurmeet Choudhary‘s Bollywood career seems to be at the crossroads. Guru, as he is popularly known, shot to fame withRamayan, Geet and later reality shows such as Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (winner 2012) and Nach Baliye 6 (runner up) has not had a smooth Bollywood journey so far. He didnt have much screen space in his debut filmKhamoshiyan and yet the makers used his name to promote the film. Although trade pundits say the film sank, the maker’s maintain that they recovered their monies.

Then came the much talked about Wajah Tum Ho, which couldnt set the box office alight. Guru blamed the demonetization drive for its failure, but Dangal which released a week later raked in over 300 crores at the  Box Office.

Now Guru is pinning his hopes on the long delayed film Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laddoo Deewana. The romcomalso features star kids Akshara Haasan and Vivaan Shah. Normally, films which get delayed don’t make it huge as the freshness is lost. The makers might have to spend huge amounts of money to market the film, which can make it commercially unviable.

The going gets even tougher for on that Friday ( 7th  April) ther are five other releases including Sarkaar3. In such a scenario if Laali Ki Shaadi doesnt click Gurmeet’s film career could be at jeopardy. As  of today Gurmeet is a bigger name than Akshara, who made her debut with Shamitabh, which was a big flop despite big names like Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush. It remains to be seen how the film is received at the box office.
