I will hopefully turn Director this year - Rohit Roy

Veteran TV and film actor Rohit Roy, who played an important role in the recent Hritik Roshan starrer Kaabil, wants to fulfill his long cherished desire of turning a full fledged director. He had got rave reviews for his short film Rice Plate, which was a part of  Sanjay Gupta produced anthology film Dus Kahaniyaan.

He has been in talks with producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali  for over 2 years for the same.“ The script is being written at the moment. We will start casting once Sanjay sir givesthe go ahead. If all goes well we will start shooting later this year  and hope to release it in the summer of next year .”  His earlier project as Director got shelved at the last minute. This time around Rohit is sticking around with Sanjay sir ,“ He is one of the best in the trade and he agreed to give me a chance only after watching  a10 minutes film of mine.”

Rohit, whose last TV project was Peterson Hill on SAB TV, admits that his direction dream has cost him in terms of work. "Agreed, I might have lost money doing  regular small and big screen roles. But again good work like Kaabil did come my way. I am also doing a superb play Unfaithfully Yours, which is a dream project for an actor. I also have a couple of roles in films, which are starkly different from Kaabil"

Talking about Kaabil where he acted with his brother Ronit Roy  he  says,  “I had been waiting for a decade to work in a such  project, where you get to play the antagonist opposite a superstar like Hritik Roshan. Also, more importantly it was gratifying that the film did well.”
