Feels funny when kids walk up to me & say 'Kya Baat" in my style - Mithun Chakraborty

Yesteryear Bollywood superstar Mithun Chakrborty, who is making a TV fiction debut  with Sony TV comedy show Drama School, says, “TV is no longer considered second fiddle to cinema. My Dance India Dance (Zee Tv) stint has played an important role in resurrection of my career.”

He has no hesitation in admitting that he is no longer very important to today’s audiences. “Life is all about change and lets face it today kids prefer watching Salman Khan and other such biggies. It is not that they have not watched my films, but yes I am not that important to them, as I was  to my  audiences back in the day.  It really  feels funny when totally young kids come up to me saying my trade mark dialogue Kya Baat. I guess different generations have different yardsticks of giving respect.”

Coming to his current show, where he plays a shady drama company owner who cheats his employees, played by Krushna Abhishek, Sudesh Lahri, Ali Asgar and  Riddhima Pandit, he says    “They are all superb  actors and I am bit nervous to see how I will fit in their scheme of things .”

Mithun feels that today’s generation is not really bothered about emotions, “  They are more preoccupied with their phones and this is seen in the kind of films being made as well, which have evolved technically and concept wise over the years.”
