The 11th Kelvinator Annual GR8! Women Achievers Awards went off magnificently. Once again, I would like to say a BIG thank you to all the fantastic women achievers who make us want to celebrate this occasion year after year. I would like to thank my team here at GR8! as well as all else who make this event such a booming success, year after year. (For those of you who weren't with us at this event, details of this ceremony are covered in the pages that follow plus you can also catch the telecast on SONY TV on Sunday 4th March at 5.30pm..

Further, I am delighted & grateful more so than anything, because since the last 7 years we have also used this platform to promote a cause & movement so very close to my heart, called Beti - Beti was originally launched in association & with the support of the UNPFA. "Beti" is our little endeavour to "save the girl child" - At the heart of our celebrations every year is the "Girl Child" - with a request for all to focus on the uncalled for & rampant killing of these children, which is being indulged in all across the country.

Gender bias in India has come about as a result of widespread female infanticide (a deliberate murder or abandonment of a young girl or infant), sex selective abortions of female foetuses, and an extensive neglect of the girl child.

By means of our movement we hope to spread the message about how sinful these acts are & we hope with all of your support this communication will continue & reach all corners of the land, with much deserved gusto and intensity, until the curse is conquered forever!

That was a celebration of women & womanhood in Mumbai but additional excitement follows as The Petrochem GR8! Women Achievers Award, which went international last year, is now all geared up to celebrate The 2nd GR8! Women Awards - Middle East ceremony, honouring women achievers from the Middle East countries such as Oman, Kuwait, UAE, Morocco, Lebanon and Turkey to name a few, in Dubai, on March 7th this year. We will bring you the exciting details from that event in our next issue.
