Cricket, cricket and then some more cricket

Cricket, cricket and then some more cricket…

… notwithstanding what the critics have to say, I believe IPL Season 5 has been a huge hit, thus far. It’s fantastic to see every single stadium, chock-full with fans, whether it’s 3.30 in the afternoon or 11 o’clock in the night. The ambiance at the grounds is super thrilling and the not-so-predictable victories have made each contest a delight to watch.

Shah Rukh Khan has been travelling with his squad, inspiring them to perform better at every game… Wonder if he’s missing Dada, considering how well Saurav Ganguly and his teammates are performing in this tournament. Rahul Dravid too has been doing his bit for the Rajathan Royals – yes, Raj Kundra’s finally found his spot in the sunshine with Shilpa comfortably tucked away, expecting their first baby any time now. He’s out there, everywhere, thoroughly enjoying the spotlight. Zesty Priety Zinta has been spotted aggressively rooting for her team as well.

Conspicuous by their absence have been the usual Kingfisher crew – Sid and Ms Padukone no longer together and Papa Kingfisher busy fighting battles in the air. Neeta Ambani has done just the rare appearance this year around, I guess she’s not too delighted with the Mumbai Indians’ performance and is just waiting for Sachin, Bhajji et al to do something spectacular fast. Missed most of all is Lalit Modi, I still remember him from the first few years – omnipotent & omnipresent – Bechaara, if only he had kept his sweet tweets to himself, he’s still be walking around like King Kong.

Anyhow, my best wishes to all the teams… may the genuinely best one win this year.

Other than cricket euphoria, it’s been the usual, one scam after another… From dubious defence purchases, to Abhishek Manu Singhvi’s naughty skeleton tumbling out of his chamber closets, to the digging up of the Bofors graves. With crusader of the Aam Aadmi Arnab Goswami & his team taking the lead in exposing or pugnaciously debating each one of these topics, all prime time news reports have become my favourite entertainment shows.

Talking about news and entertainment channels, it’s been harsh times recently for so many TV channels – Many have had to offload stake to stay afloat and others have just had to pull down their shutters and call it a day, the latest of the lot being Imagine, Star News, Star Pravaha and Star Bangla to name a few. It’s undoubtedly a jungle out there and its boiling down to the basics in this jungle too, survival of the fittest. My good wishes to all.
